The man I hate might be the first one to pluck my petals…

Confession: I, Dandelion “Dani” Wright, am twenty-six years old and have yet to be deflowered. No man has hosed my hyacinth. Fondled my freesia. Diddled my daffodil.

You get the point.

My excuse? I was too busy running my family’s flower shop and winning floral design competitions.

Suddenly that whole pesky virginity thing becomes a big deal when Jacob West walks back into my life. The boy I once loved. The same boy who humiliated me when he stood me up for prom.

This Jacob is no boy, though: he’s all man now—confident, charming, and so sexy my metaphorical blossoms are getting scorched. I can almost forget I’m supposed to hate him forever. Almost.

To make things worse, he’s my main competition now, since he took over his parents’ flower shop. If I give into this sizzling attraction between us, it could jeopardize everything I’ve worked so hard to achieve.

But if I’m not careful, he might not just be the first man to pluck my petals—he might also be the only man to capture my heart.

Petal Plucker: A Steamy Romantic Comedy by Iris Morland

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A brand new romance incorporating two characters that have a past that brings them together in the present for the best of ways…

Okay… but okay… Oh my god! I am so excited to actually write this review! This novel is one of those books that you were expecting something light and fun to enjoy, and when you start reading it and it makes you laugh out loud, you just KNOW that this is an IT novel. Iris Morland is a new author for me and I am beyond glad that I gave her a chance. This novel, which I am hoping is the first installment to a brand new series in which I am already hyping up and want more and more of. And can we talk about this cover?! Oh my goodness, the color yellow is making a hit pop this year with all these amazing covers! I mean, just look at The Bride Test and at Meet Cute, two of my favorite books this year featuring the popping color yellow as well. Petal Plucker has become one of my favorites this year as well! Is it because of the spring fever? The spring vibes? If so, then count me in!

Now, let’s talk about this novel shall we? In this beauty, we are introduced to Dandelion aka “Dan” and Jacob, childhood friends who become enemies and then lovers. All the amazing tropes in one novel!

But in all seriousness, something this novel has and does not as well due to the fact that it made me laugh so hard in some scenes, Iris has created a brand new novel that will take your breath away with the chemistry they both have. Dan is a family flower shop owner who comes across Jacob after so many years of not seeing each other. After many heart broken moments and one in particular in highschool, Dan learned not to trust Jacob because of the actions he took and after so long she is unsure of whether she can trust him ever again. But Jacob is different, and giving him a second chance is hard for Dan. Especially when he also looks different, and makes her drool over how attractive he turned out to be. His history with women is also something Dan is aware of, but after many encounters and some passionate kissing, Dandelion knows that having a guarding wall up for her emotions is one that Jacob is slowly breaking down.

Knowing of her innocence, Jacob needs to take that into consideration when being with Dan. And once he does have her, that possessive alpha male I was looking for has arisen. Dan knows that getting emotional with Jacob is going to destroy her if it does not turn in the bright way. When they are finally together though, Dan is in this lovey-dovey world where she has become obsessed with… yup, SEX. Once she had it, she cannot get enough of it and to be honest, I can relate. I love everything about Dan! She is just a sun filled with so much energy that makes you want to be around her all the time. Jacob is this strong minded individual, who yes had a past with Dan but does change for the better good of himself and his family. And when they are together both physically and emotionally, the passion and connection is real.

Overall, I am so glad I gave Iris’ novel a chance because I am forever madly in love with her writing. If you do not add this baby to your TBR, then I have no idea what you are waiting for! Thank you so much to Iris for letting me read her novel, I am beyond excited for everyone to have some fun as well. My hands are already itching for her next novel, which I am keeping my fingers crossed it’s Kate’s novel, Dandelion’s younger sister 😉
