The Bad Guy by Celia Aaron | Book Review + GIVEAWAY

My name is Sebastian Lindstrom, and I’m the villain of this
I’ve decided to lay myself bare. To tell the truth for once
in my hollow life, no matter how dark it gets. And I can assure you, it will
get so dark that you’ll find yourself feeling around the blackened corners of
my mind, seeking a door handle that isn’t there.
Don’t mistake this for a confession. I neither seek
forgiveness nor would I accept it. My sins are my own. They keep me company.
Instead, this is the true tale of how I found her, how I stole her, and how I
lost her.
She was a damsel, one who already had her white knight. But
every fairy tale has a villain, someone waiting in the wings to rip it all
down. A scoundrel who will set the world on fire if that means he gets what he
wants. That’s me.
I’m the bad guy.

➳A psychopath like Sebastian has never sounded and been so much better than this… Can I please have me one, because Celia Aaron has made me crave one…

➳”Love at first sight” is a phrase that is commonly used in many romance stories. Including those that can be found in the dark, suspense, and intimidating romance novellas that many find a thrill to. What is being rejected from being said is that the phrase “lust at first sight” is the correct form to identify this compelling, intriguing, and mystic romance created by the master mind of Celia Aaron. She has not only brought a new theme to the romance shelves that I have only seemed to have found from two of my favorites— Penelope Douglas and R. Scarlett— but, she has created a new aspect of a personality and character that beckons you as the reader, for much more than just a sappily ever after love story.

➳Camille, a biology and life science teacher, and Sebastian, the CEO of his own inherited company from his father— Lindstrom— have found their way into each other’s lives. Both compelling each other in a way that can be defined as strange, but at the same time enticing to read. During their first encounter, something dark and killing invites them to be together. In Camille’s perspective, we can definitely rehash the sensations of scared, curious, but at the same time affected by Sebastian’s presence. For him however, it is a sense of pure possessiveness, knowing that he needs to control her, captivate her every essence that calls his name. It all seems as a perfect opportunity to pounce (no pun intended) upon his pray that is Camille and claim her, however, the realization that Camille belongs to what is considered in this compelling love story as a white knight named Link, her boyfriend, Sebastian knows that nothing, and I mean NOTHING will stop him from claiming her as his own, and only his. Before he can go ahead and attack, he knows that he needs to plan an arrangement to conquer her, by first showing disinterest towards her;

“I kept a look of disinterest on my face, the most-used mask in my repertoire, even though every gear and cog inside me turned and clanked as if I were a machine waking up after a long, dark sleep. Her energy was like gasoline in my veins, powering me up for some mysterious purpose…

➳As Sebastian works his ways to conquer Camille as his, he slowly begins to make the way into her heart by making her swoon in a way that can be considered as strange, but to others, romantic. His dark ways of compelling Camille into his world of seclusion is what attracts the reader to understand the psychological aspects Celia brings to this story, by also providing an insight of opposites being drawn to each other. Sebastian, being the dark cloud that rains on everyone’s parade, and Camille, being the sunshine that makes him stop and admire the vibrancy she has to her persona and the aura that she illuminates. His way of trying to seduce Camille is one that may be confusing to some, but appealing to others that crave this sort of dark romance. His candor can both be refreshing and harsh to the eye of someone whom cannot understand it. That is something Celia has no problem in portraying, as her words make every sense of the way through the story line, bringing an ending to this twilight of a novella. A darkness that Camille not only is surprised that she likes, but also craves towards the plot that will take you back in shock.

➳Overall, Celia Aaron has not only yet again brought a new story that will make you want to keep reading and reading for more of her intriguing words of darkness, but she has also brought a new theme to the romance novel world when it comes down to wanting an anti-hero to have an ending that will have you drooling for the mystery of wanting more of his dark aura.
